Mumbai, March 19, 2024 – The 2nd Edition Northeast India International Film Festival (NIIFF) concluded in Mumbai with grandeur and acclaim, marking another significant milestone in celebrating the rich cultural heritage and cinematic talent of Northeast India. Organized by FIND STUDIOZ in collaboration with the Indian Chamber of Commerce for Affirmative Action, the festival served as a vibrant platform for promoting cultural exchange and understanding.

Since its inception in 2022, the Northeast India International Film Festival has been dedicated to showcasing the diversity and harmony of the region’s colorful culture. As a window into Northeast India, the festival has grown into a pivotal event, fostering dialogue and appreciation for the region’s cinematic offerings.

At the heart of NIIFF’s success lies the visionary leadership of Find Studioz, spearheaded by founder members Rebecca Changkija Sema and Shiraz Henry. The esteemed guests of honor at the festival included notable figures such as Shri. Sunil Zode, Chairman of the Indian Chamber of Commerce for Affirmative Action, Shri. Atul Kulkarni, Chairman of the Amazing Namasti Foundation, along with esteemed personalities from the Indian film industry.

Chairman Mohan Das and Joint Director Shiraz Henry revealed that the festival featured three categories – International Films, Indian Films, and North-eastern Films, each with four divisions including Feature Film, Short Film, Documentary Films, and Music Video.

Rebecca Changkija Sema, Festival Director of the Northeast India International Film Festival (NIIFF), highlighted that the festival celebrates the cultural diversity and cinematic talent of Northeast India. Founded in 2022, NIIFF aims to promote cultural exchange and understanding through the medium of film.

Among the distinguished guests were Bollywood playback singers Mrs. Pamela Jain and Ms. Khushboo Jain, music director and composer Shri. Laxminarayan, actor Shri. J. Brandon Hill, director Shri. Hamid Ali, actors Shri. Harshal Rane, Shri. K. Venkat Ramesh, Shri. Abhishek Khanna, and many others. The 2nd Edition Northeast India International Film Festival 2024 reaffirmed its commitment to promoting cultural diversity, artistic excellence, and collaborative storytelling, setting the stage for further exploration and appreciation of Northeast India’s cinematic landscape.

Renowned actor Rajesh Jais debuts as a lyricist and singer, winning the Best Singer award in the music video category at the 2nd Edition Northeast India International Film Festival 2024.

A standout moment of the festival was the recognition of Mr. N.K.Naga, a pride of Nagaland and a Bollywood playback singer, who clinched the prestigious Best Playback Singer award in the Indian category for the year 2024. Mr. Naga’s exceptional talent, showcased through his multilingual prowess in over twenty-six languages, has earned him numerous accolades.

Additionally, the festival honoured veteran actor Shri. Vikram Makandar, remembered for his iconic role in the movie “Julie,” with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema.The Lifetime Achievement Award for a female actress has been bestowed upon the esteemed veteran actress Zarina Wahab.

A diverse array of acclaimed films, including ‘The Last Honour,’ ‘ID,’ ‘Memory and Fault,’ ‘Bengal 1947,’ ‘Navras Katha Collage,’ ‘Bissau Ki Mook Ramleela,’ ‘Bhala Manuus,’ ‘Satyashodhak,’ ‘Lachit, The Warrior,’ ‘Stream,’ ‘Brahmakanya,’ ‘The Way Back Home,’ ‘MEJI – The Fire,’ ‘Sadabahar,’ ‘O Sanware,’ ‘Bhagirath The Sandman,’ ‘Thanks Mom,’ ‘Awakenings of Rock,’ and ‘Cabbage,’ were honored as winners at the 2nd Edition Northeast India International Film Festival (NIIFF) Season 2 held in Mumbai, reflecting the diverse talent and creativity showcased at the festival.
